Power supply
Watergamen are omnivores, however, most of their diet must consist of animal food. The prey animals that can be fed are grasshoppers, crickets, earthworms or pinkies. The diet can be supplemented with a small amount of fruit such as strawberry, raspberry, banana or melon.

Young animals can be fed daily with earthworms and insects, only after a few months do they often start eating fruit. To prevent the agamen from being disturbed or damaged by the prey animals, it is important that they are removed from the terrarium when they are not eaten.

In captivity, the diet usually contains less calcium than in the wild. This is because they also get bones and eggshells in the wild. To make them meet this need in captivity, you can give them calcium supplements with their diet.

Water
As the name suggests, this type of water -loving is about half of the bottom surface may consist of a water section. The temperature of this water must be approximately 22 to 24 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to provide it with a filter since the agamen often relieve in the water. Without filter it is important that the water is refreshed at least once a day. Furthermore, it is important that the terrarium is sprayed daily to maintain humidity.

Cleaning
If the hungry eaters they are, they also relieve. For this reason, it is wise to remove the stool from the stay every day, and to remove the dirty ground cover once a week. In addition, it is wise to thoroughly clean the entire stay a few times a year, so you prevent the accumulation of germs and bacteria.

Handle
When the agamen are used to human contact at a young age, they are easy to handle. By applying them occasionally and taking them out of hand, they get used to being used. As with many lizards, the best way is to pick them up with 1 hand just behind the head and the other behind the tail base. Water areas can be able to scratch, bite and hit with their tail here must be watched out. After handling it is important that you wash your hands well with water and soap.

Housing
Minimum size stay for a pair: 200x100x200

Night temperature: 20-22 degrees Celsius
Hours of light: 12 hours a day

Design
Large climbing branches must be present in the terrarium, green iguanas are happy to sit on a branch under the heat and UVB lamp. A number of hiding places in the stay are also important to ensure that the animal can be out of sight to prevent stress.
The sun spot must be made on 1 side of the terrarium, to create a temperature gradation, so the iguana can choose where it will lie. To make an optimal sun spot for large animals such as green iguanas, it is wise to make a sun spot of several lamps with a somewhat lower wattage so that the animal can be lying with the entire body below. A single heat and UV lamp from a high wattage can quickly cause burns in the animals.
The ground cover may be 10 to 15 centimeters deep so that it can absorb and release sufficient moisture to maintain the humidity. It is also important that there is a daily spraying in the stay to maintain humidity.
All elements that are added to the stay must be stuck well and not be able to fall over as the iguana is large and strong. If something falls, this can cause damage to the animal.
